Moody and obsessive-compulsive, Etienne has enormous power but isn't a particularly effective villain.  He's something of a drunkard, but he drinks wine and only wine, he finds most other forms of alcohol to be fairly distasteful (especially beer).  Besides the fact that he simply likes the taste, he drinks to drown himself in what he feels is a life devoid of meaning or accomplishment.  He's not especially violent, having never hurt anyone before Kaitlyn, and in fact he doesn't actually know what he wants to do--just that Kaitlyn has something to do with it.  He's very emotional, which is a problem, because he's terrible at processing and voicing feelings.  Drinking helps to drown those too. =P

Riordan poses as a man of the cloth at the local Catholic church, where besides his usual priestly duties he spends a good deal of time looking after the parishioners' children.  He's quite mad and quite violent, but he loves kids and would never hurt or even perform an act of violence in front of a child under any circumstances.  That would be the only remnant of 'goodness' in him, though, I suppose, as he truly cares for nothing save his daughter Rose and his purpose: and in fact, he cares for his purpose most of all (though he would always claim Rose is more important).  Riordan is incredibly strong, and he leads/controls Xin, Aegis & Sikari.

The first of Riordan's henchpeople, Sikari is selfish, arrogant, and violent.  He was the only willing member of Riordan's underlings, recruited from his family when he was fifteen.  Sikari was the sort of child that would put ants under microscopes to watch them burn, or pour salt on slugs to see them shrivel.  He fits the quote of 'He jests at scars who never felt a wound,' as his homelife was cushy, but devoid of anything--pain, stimulation, or companionship, due to his wealthy and overprotective parents.  The house staff prevented him from doing much of anything, especially anything potentially dangerous, such as going outside.  Thus, he jumped at the chance to escape.  Sikari is someone you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley, as he would likely attempt to kill you.  He has control over fire, and though strictly speaking he is the weakest of Riordan's men, he is the most dangerous.

Xin is reluctant to do evil despite his powerful gifts.  He is actually a great coward, and hates not only fighting but having to confront anyone in general.  He dislikes blood and cannot tolerate the sight of pain or the sound of tears.  He's too cowardly to stand up to Riordan, however, and fears both Sikari and Aegis (even though Sikari is weaker than he is and Aegis is kind to him). Miserable and lonely much of the time, his first friend is Lani (birds of a feather flock together).  Xin has a crush on Etienne, but, although he is effeminate, has no desire to be a woman.  He has control over both natural elements (such as lightning, earthquakes, storms) and animals.  Sometimes the weather will even respond to his emotional state. ^_^;
 

The oldest of his trio, Aegis is also predictably the strongest and most mature.  He is highly educated, and he lacks Xin's emotional problems and Sikari's bloodlust.  He takes no pleasure in causing pain, but he does what he has to do.  Like Xin, he was forced into helping Riordan; unlike Xin, he does privately agree with some of Riordan's reasoning, though he doesn't think his solution will be effective.   He is calm and resolute, rarely giving into emotional outbursts, and acts as a sort of a parental figure to both Xin and Sikari, though Xin moreso (as Sikari hates him).  His powers are focused in extra sensory perception--telekinesis, teleportation, mind-reading, bending spoons, so on and so forth.  Besides that he's simply smart, as well as physically competent.

Not really a villain, Rose is only lumped in this category because she is Riordan's child. Rose, while by no means stupid, is completely oblivious to her father's evil or any evil for that matter.  Riordan has kept her utterly sheltered from the harshness of the world, and a result she is naive and trusting of everyone.  She affixes Uncle to Xin, Sikari and Aegis's names, and the three of them take care of her when Riordan is busy (though Xin gets the job most of the time, and he likes it very much).  She lives in the attic of the mansion overtaken by Riordan, which has a spell on it to look like an empty, dusty room if one peers through a window.  The blinds are drawn anyway, and Rose does not open them as Sikari told her that horrible monsters would eat her if she did.

Reve isn't evil so much as he is amoral.  Abandoned in the dreamscape at a tender young age, Reve spent centuries of his life without any sort of human contact or connection.  This has made him somewhat bitter and somewhat deranged.  He speaks like a disturbed child much of the time.  Before meeting Kaitlyn, most of his time was spent peeking into dreams--and being soundly purged from them, as his presence in a dream usually led to immense fear on the part of the dreamer.  Kaitlyn was the first person he met that was completely unafraid, thus, he decides to try to keep her with him--forever.  Reve does not consider his actions evil, as he hasn't got a concept of good and evil--to him, it's just the best way, the only way for him to be happy.  He has the ability to manipulate dreams, and when he enters the waking world he can assume the form of a large, long-haired, blue-green cat.  The marks on his face are not tattoos or facepaint--they're skin discolorations, common among his people.  He wears clothing akin to that of a 19th century European (ascots, frilly shirts, etc), as that is the time period he's used to.
 

The leader of the second series villainy, Amethyst is a misanthrope but not a killer.  In fact, she avoids killing at all costs, saying that trails of blood are too easy to follow.  Cold and businesslike, Amethyst is not especially violent, though she does not tolerate disobedience or wasting time.  She is Sailornemesis, the forgotten member of the Blackmoon family, killed long ago and revived to seek her righteous vengeance.  Her mental abilities are unmatched, but she is completely blind, and relies on her other senses as well as her converted followers to help her around.  Amethyst values courtesy, and while she dislikes humanity on principle, she is inclined to treat the polite ones better.

Pathos is a bartender at the Cafe Apocalypse, which serves as  meeting place for him, Amethyst, and the others.  The right (left as you look) half of his face is gone, as the skin was torn off in a childhood incident.  All that's left is  horrible mesh of muscle, tissue, and metal wiring.  He wears a mask most of the time to hide the deformation, and tries to avoid going out in daylight as much as possible in order to decrease the possiblity of being noticed and questioned.  Despite being a 'villain', Pathos is self-righteous and prefers not to attack outright, unless that person is someone he deems evil (thieves, murderers, and drug dealers especially).  He has a powerful inferiority complex regarding his appearance, despite the assurance of his boss Kelsea that he is beautiful.  He is, however, obstinate about his ugliness.  He hates to be the center of attention and doesn't even like to talk to that much.  He likes his job because of the counter between him and the rest of the populace, and the fact that the bar is only open at night and is always dimly lit anyway.

Once again the youngest is the most violent.  A former meek lab rat, Assyrius's misanthropic streak is widened to the point where it begins to consume him once he is under Amethyst's control.  Prior to meeting her, Assyrius never fought back when he was harrassed for being a sissy boy, and felt guilty if he ever had the desire to inflict pain on another person, regardless of what this person had done to him.    After meeting her, he soon realizes that he LIKES watching people suffer, having convinced himself that they deserve it for both their cruelty to him and their cruelty to nature.  Assyrius does what one would call a complete 180, much to the dismay of his girlfriend Celina.  However, he still loves animals, and continues to pick up strays off the street, bring them home, and give them cutesy names (his three cats are called Fluffy, Fluffy II, and Fluffernutter; he has a myriad of others wandering around his house), and he is still kind to his family (mostly because only Cassandra, his little sister, suspects that he has gone to the dark side, and no one ever believes her).  Assyrius is brilliant, but irrational, tending to let emotion cloud his judgment.

Peripetaia is sickly and often tired, and she speaks in a weak, scratchy voice.  She is cynical and pessimistic, but not a cruel person by any means.  She would do anything to protect her older sister, from the outside world and from herself.  Peri has something of a crush on Pathos, though realistically speaking, she does not think it could ever happen.  Besides her own insecurity, she expects to die before her thirtieth birthday due to her frail health.  Peri never underestimates anyone, but her weak physical state makes her a poor fighter in spite of her effective power over poison.  She and Harmatia are members of Reve's tribe as well--her skin discolorations are black, Harmatia's are white, and they can assume the forms of wolves.

Harmatia's pretty well crazy.  She likes to destroy things, especially dolls, and has a habit of sawing their limbs off or ripping out their hair.  Her room is decorated like that of a little girl's, but everything in it is savagely torn apart or otherwise disfigured.  She likes to fingerpaint on the (pink) walls, usually in red, as well.  She will viciously attack most anyone she sees if they are not Peripetaia or Amethyst, dragging them to her room under the pretense of wanting to play with them.  Peri, who doesn't believe in torture, usually saves the victim (which is more often than not an animal anyway) and, if it's a human, apologizes profusely and offers cookies.Harmatia trusts only her sister and will answer no one but her (this includes Amethyst).   Despite her mental fallacies, Harmatia is actually quite smart and physically able.  There are certain times when she calms down and speaks as though she were a normal, well-adjusted girl, but those are few and far between.
